01Is this for you

When a Magento 2 partner is the right call

Magento rewards serious catalogues and punishes small ones. It is usually worth it when at least two of these are true.

  • Your catalogue, price lists or customer groups no longer fit a simple shop platform.
  • Stock, prices or orders have to stay in sync with an ERP or a warehouse system.
  • You sell B2B: company accounts, negotiated quotes, contract pricing or credit limits.
  • You run several languages, currencies or store views from one administration.
  • Your current Magento store is slow, hard to upgrade or was built by someone who has left.

02What you get

What a Magento engagement covers

The scope depends on where the store is today. These are the four situations we are asked about most.

New store build

Architecture, custom modules, a Hyvä or headless storefront, payment and shipping methods, and a load-tested launch.

Migration to Magento 2

From Magento 1, WooCommerce or Shopify, with a full URL map and structured-data parity so organic traffic survives the switch.

Takeover and rescue

A paid audit of a store someone else built, then security patches, dependency updates, monitoring and a working staging environment.

Support and upgrades

Security patching, version upgrades and conversion work under a support agreement, on Adobe Commerce Cloud or self-managed Linux servers.

03Which option

Hyvä, Luma or headless: how to choose a storefront

The storefront is the decision that most affects speed, cost and how your team works afterwards.

StorefrontBest whenTrade-off
Hyvä themeYou want a large Core Web Vitals gain and your team stays inside Magento. Some older extensions need a compatibility module.
Luma (default)The store is small, stable and you are not rebuilding the frontend yet.Heavy JavaScript makes good field performance hard to reach.
Headless on Next.jsOne frontend serves several backends, or content and commerce are blended.More moving parts to build and maintain, so it has to earn its cost.

For most stores Hyvä is the pragmatic answer. We recommend headless only when your traffic and your team justify it.

04Cost

What decides the cost of a Magento 2 project

We do not publish a price list, because two stores with the same number of pages can differ several times over in effort. These factors move the quote the most.

FactorWhy it matters
IntegrationsEach ERP, WMS or PIM link needs a data contract, error handling and tests, and is usually the largest single cost.
B2B featuresContract pricing, quotes and company hierarchies add logic that has to be tested against every price rule.
Catalogue and dataAttribute quality and the number of SKUs decide how much cleaning and mapping a migration needs.
StorefrontHyvä, a custom theme and a headless build sit at very different levels of effort.
Current codeInherited stores with many overlapping extensions need stabilising before new work starts.

You receive a fixed-scope estimate after the audit rather than a guess up front. Takeovers start with a paid audit, so both sides know what is being inherited.

05How to start

From first email to a working plan

01day one

Send the brief

Tell us the store URL, what is wrong or missing, and the systems it has to talk to.

021–2 weeks

Technical audit

Codebase, extensions, database, indexers, caching and infrastructure, delivered as a written report with severity ratings.

031 week

Architecture and roadmap

The module plan, data model, integration contracts and release sequence, agreed before anyone builds.

04ongoing

Build in sprints

Two-week sprints on a staging environment, with automated tests around checkout, pricing and integrations.

06For an accurate quote

What to include in your request

A useful estimate depends on a few facts. You do not need a formal specification.

  • The store URL and your Magento version, if you already have one.
  • The approximate number of products and the languages and currencies you sell in.
  • The ERP, WMS, PIM, payment and courier systems involved.
  • Whether you sell B2B, B2C or both, and any special pricing rules.
  • Your target launch date and anything that makes it fixed.

07Questions

Questions buyers ask about Magento 2 projects

How much does a Magento 2 store cost?

It depends mainly on integrations, B2B features, the storefront and the state of any existing code, so we quote after scoping rather than from a price list. Send the store URL and the systems involved, and you get a fixed-scope estimate after the audit.

How long does a Magento 1 to Magento 2 migration take?

For a mid-sized catalogue with a handful of integrations, plan on three to five months end to end. Very large B2B catalogues with ERP-driven pricing typically run six to nine months, including a migration rehearsal before the real cut-over.

Is WeDevelop an Adobe Commerce certified company?

Our senior Magento engineers hold Adobe Commerce Developer certification. We work with modules instead of core edits, service contracts and upgrade-compatible customisation, and we can walk you through the code of a previous build before you commit.

Can you take over a store built by another agency?

Yes, and it is a large share of our Magento work. We start with a paid audit, then stabilise the store with security patches, dependency updates, monitoring and a staging environment. New features come only after the store is safe.

Do you work with Magento clients outside Romania?

Yes. Our clients are in Romania, the EU, the UK and North America, and delivery is remote. Invoicing can be in EUR, GBP or RON, and we work in English or Romanian.

Should we choose Magento or WooCommerce?

Choose Magento when B2B pricing, large catalogues or several store views are central to how you sell. WooCommerce is usually the better fit for smaller catalogues and teams already at home in WordPress. We build both, so the recommendation does not depend on what we sell.
